Inner Landscape
Regeneration is a process that can happen at and in between multiple levels: a human’s body, a forest, a river, a community, or a family.
Indeed, the epytemology of the word “regenerate” evokes both somatic and bio-cultural systemic processes. It is the connection of tissues that enables healing.
It is also the spiritual regeneration of a person’s spiritual life.
Here at Re, we talk about the regeneration of the “inner landscape” as a way of depicting the importance of paying attention to what is going on “inside of us” as well as “outside of us” – though of course, those are somewhat false distinctions.
The mind, after all, does not merely belong to the individual.
Mind is part of social, cultural, and physical ecosystems.
Individual minds and hearts can connect with and are in various ways shaped by, the collective mind and heart – the collective subconscious.
To attend to one’s inner landscape is not inherently selfish. It is a necessary part of living. Of healing from the legacies of colonization. Of finding out where and who you are as an individual.
This is part of why we offer retreats – times when we can come together for both personal and collective reflection. We also work with spiritual healers such as Dr Amanda Kemp and Ayurvedic practitioner Thana.
Since we often work with educators and activists who themselves are givers and highly community orientated, we recognize how important it is to support you in your own process of personal regeneration.
We recommend two of our own courses that touch on different aspects of the Inner Landscape:
Nature and Belonging
With the transformative knowledge of Empower With Nature’s Maya Galimidi, we will ground and re-build connection to place. We will explore diverse concepts and use phenomenological techniques to engage our senses and heighten our levels of observation. Through a deepened understanding of ecopsychology and the “ecological self” we will reconnect to place and purpose. Consider this class a personal invitation to ROOT: within yourself, and wherever you are.
ReMembering the Origins of Climate Changeing
Check out the Introduction to ReMembering course from sara jolena wolcott – this is more about the social and ecological histories of the doctrine of discovery: seeing how we are part of these larger dynamics are an important part of regeneration.
On occasion, we offer a two part Regenerative Fellowship, which includes both time designated for inner landscape work and time designated for outer landscape work to support leading thinkers, teachers in this space who would not otherwise have a chance to go deeper into their own work and to develop new, more deeply integrated initiatives.
